09/26/2021 10:00 AM - 05:00 PM ET

Description

In this class each student will start with readily available lumber and end up with a complete bookcase. It can be filled with books or anything else as is or finished at home with stain, polyurethane or another preferred finish. The students will use common shop machinery including the table saw, miter saw, band saw, drill press and sanders to mill all the parts. The parts will then be glued-up and the bookcase completed by the end  of the class. This class is perfect for beginners who have never worked with these tools, or students who have some experience but would like to learn more about joinery.

The book case will be approximately 4ft tall and 4ft wide, the width can be shortened to any length under 4ft if preferred. The top and bottom shelves are fixed in place and the middle 2 shelves are adjustable in height. The fixed shelves and back will be built with dado joinery. The dado is one of the most used joinery techniques in woodworking it is a strong and simple joint.
