07/02/2021 09:00 PM - 07/09/2021 ET

Description

The Shakers preferred to use tape on the seats and backs of stools and chairs for durability and strength. Come join us for this class to explore the historic art of building furniture and weaving the seat. You will build your own shaker stool and weave the seat with 100% cotton shaker tape. Students will start with a kit on the first day of class and assemble a stool and glue up all the joints. They will then be able to take the stool home for a week and apply a finish, finishing ideas will be discussed in the first class. After a week students will return for the second class to weave the seat of their stool with cotton tape. At the end of the second class the stool will be ready for use.
