Fly Tying Class

The Catskill Mountain region is the birthplace of fly fishing in America. Join us for this five week course to learn the art and craft of fly tying. Trout Unlimited is a national conservation organization whose mission is to conserve, protect and restore coldwater watersheds and fisheries.
This course is designed for the novice or beginner fly tyer. No experience necessary! In this class you will learn how to tie well-proportioned and well-constructed flies for trout fishing. The flies that you will construct in this class are some of the most effective patterns for local streams and rivers.
Topics to be covered:
-Basic stream entomology.
-Basic fly tying techniques used in the construction of nymphs, dry flies and streamers.
-How to select the proper hooks and materials to make a wide variety of different flies.
All tools and materials needed for this class will be supplied. If you already have a fly tying vice and tools please bring them to class. Come and learn fly tying with our patient, helpful and expert instructors
