Women and the Revival of the Hudson River

The Hudson River has had a remarkable revival in the last sixty years. This talk will focus on the roles that many women have played in this epic story, and ways they created important narratives about the river against the backdrop of societal change.
Speaker Bio: Cara Lee has enjoyed a 40-year career in conservation as an advocate, land manager, policy innovator and educator. Between 1984-2001 Lee was the environmental director for Scenic Hudson, helping shape policy related to Hudson River fisheries management, utility impacts, water withdrawal and water quality issues. In 2001 Lee joined The Nature Conservancy to lead a collaborative project to protect the 90,000-acre Shawangunk Mountains. Lee holds a Master’s degree from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Management.
Lee will be joined by Aidan Mabey, Environmental Educator with the Hudson River Estuary Program.
