Boat Building Challenge

The Hudson River Maritime Museum is excited to once again host this years National Boat Building Challenge as part of our Maritime Festival on the Rondout Creek.
Teams of two compete to build a boat from scratch in just four hours, and then compete in a rowing race on the Rondout with cash prizes for the team with the best score in all three categories:
- speed
- quality
- rowing race
The Hudson River Maritime Museum's event is a qualifying challenge, one of just a few competitions around the country. Held on Saturday, July 22, 2019, this thrilling competition draws national and local competitors alike and the 4:00PM rowing race is the highlight of Saturday's event.
The registration fee is $200 per team (team of 2 people). This includes $500 worth of material for the build. Does not include tools, please bring your own tools for the competition.

(Youth teams may have adult supervision, but that adult may only advise and may not engage in active construction).
