Workbench Build
Description
Join woodworker Michael Puryearin in the hands on building of a workbench. This is an opportunity to learn the principles of design and the joinery techniques for a functional woodworking bench. Each student can choose between purchasing a material kit to build their own bench in the class or building with the class and being given a shop drawing of the bench. The drawing can then be used to build the bench at home. Discussion during the class will cover bench vice selection and installation, additional bench features and custom sizing of the bench.
The bench will be constructed of two inch dimensional lumber with mortise and tennon joints and a laminated plywood and masonite top. The measurements for the bench built in the class are 2ft by 4ft. The plans provided may be adjusted to build a bench with different dimensions.
