Parent/Child Sailing Class, June 6, 13, 20, 27 & July 18 & 25, 2021

06/06/2021 09:00 AM - 07/25/2021 12:00 PM ET

Description

In this six-week sailing class, a parent/guardian and one child, age five to seven, will learn to sail together. The Sunday morning classes, from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon, will meet on June 6, 13, 20, and 27 and July 18 and 25.  Two boats will participate, and each vessel will include one US Sailing certified instructor, two adult students and two youth students.  People who wish to participate must sign up one adult and one child, age five to seven. During the first four sessions, participants will learn to sail a stable centerboard sailboat. Basic sailing skills, additional related skills, capsize practice with safe response to an unexpected capsize, and other safety skills will be taught.  Depending on the interests and abilities of the students, participants may sail with an instructor on a nearby safety boat during some of the centerboard boat classes. During the fifth and sixth classes, students will sail aboard one of our Keel boats with a US Sailing-certified instructor.

Local health department and CDC Covid-safer protocols will be followed, including mask-wearing, gathering outside, and frequent sanitizing of boats, as long as these are deemed necessary.

Please note: Parents must register for two slots, one with the parent as participant and the second with the child as participant. The cost is $450 per parent AND $450 per child.  HRMM household members save 10% on tuition for this class. This is a $90 savings for a parent and child, $810 instead of $900.

HRMM household membership costs $60, so there would be a net savings of $30 for new HRMM member families. To join HRMM, click here: https://www.hrmm.org/join.html
