Family/Group Build: Make A Cornhole Set

Join veteran teacher, woodworker, and craftsperson Kathy Prisco for the ultimate summer project: making your own cornhole set. Building your own set, rather than buying one, is a chance to learn and practice woodworking skills. This easy DIY project will give you and your loved ones the perfect game for this season and many more. When you purchase a ticket for your group or family, you can bring up to 4 guests. (Due to safety and space factors, each group is limited to 5 members total.)

Kathy will guide you from start to finish in cutting, shaping and assembling the boards, customizing and decorating them with paints and stencils, and even making the bags. You can bring any graphics you'd like to decorate your boards.

Students will also gain skills such as the use of an electric jigsaw, power drills and sanders, miter saw, and basic joinery.

Instructor: Kathy Prisco is a certified science teacher who has taught at Poughkeepsie Day School where she learned cooperative teaching and alternative teaching methods. She went on to teach Biology, Chemistry, STEM, and Engineering at Spackenkill High School. 

After retiring from the classroom in 2020, she focused her passion for building and creating on wood crafting, jewelry making, and creating handcrafted artwork. After discovering the Wooden Boat School, Kathy was able to combine her two passions—teaching and creating—in one place where she thoroughly enjoys helping people turn wood into functional art while having a lot of fun along the way.
