Boat Owners Series: NYS Boating Safety Certification Class

03/30/2024 09:00 AM - 06:00 PM ET

Description

To help ensure our waterways remain safe and enjoyable, New York State will require all motorized boaters to take a safe boating course and earn their safe boating certificate by 2025. Boating safety certificates are required for recreational boaters using motorized vessels, including personal watercraft. (Operators of non-motorized boats, such as kayaks and canoes, are not required to have a boating safety certificate at this time.) You must be at least 10 years old to take a safe boating course.

Boaters can earn their certificate by taking a New York Safe Boating Course that teaches basic boating skills and encourages common sense and courtesy to all who share the water. The Wooden Boat School at the HRMM offers this one-day, in-person class taught by a certified and experienced instructor. To maximize classroom time, please pack a lunch.

After completing the class, just submit proof and a small fee to receive your permanent safety certification.
